Five Home Remedies for Glowing Skin

Everyone wants a nice, radiating and blemish free skin. Although our genetics and lifestyle play an important role in determining our skin health, the right choice of food can also help our skin fight the natural process of ageing and the effect of day-to-day lifestyle. Instead of trying out a myriad of beauty products available in the market today, why not rely on more natural home made remedies for glowing skin, which have passed the test of time.

Tomatoes are a great source of lycopene, which is an antioxidant that acts as a natural sunscreen from within. Antioxidants in tomatoes act as anti ageing agents and help in fighting damage of skin cells. Eating tomatoes is healthy but one can also apply them directly on skin.

For glowing skin mix pure honey with fresh tomato juice and bring it to paste like consistency. Apply this paste evenly all over the face and leave it for about 15 minutes, wash off with cool water to get a smooth and glowing skin.

Green Tea

Green tea contains natural strong antioxidant called polyphenols, which helps in keeping body, skin and hair healthy. The polyphenol present in green tea slows down the appearance of skin ageing. It’s beneficial both when drinking as well as applying on one’s face to get a glowing skin.

You have to go for a party and don’t have time to go for a facial? You don’t need spend hours sitting in spa and spend on expensive masks any more. You can make your own mask using green tea. Take a green tea bag that has been already used. Cut open the bag and pour the contents in a small cup. Add little honey and mix it till you get a thick paste. Apply this paste on to your face and leave it for 10 minutes. Rinse off with cool water to get a fresh and glowing skin.


Dark coloured berries like blueberries, strawberries, cranberries etc. contain antioxidants, which help in fighting off blemishes. Manganese in these berries has ability to convert toxins present in the skin cells in to oxygen, thus reduces any skin damages and ageing.


These fruits can be used to prepare home made face masks. Take 4 strawberries and add 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder to it and mash them together to make a thick paste. Apply this paste on to your face for 15 minutes and wash it off with warm water.

This will result in a glowing skin and brighten your face.


Almonds are the best source of vitamin E. You can have couple of whole almonds as a snack or add them to your morning cereals or add them to any of your baked dishes. Vitamin E present in the almonds helps in nourishing skin and protects skin from UV rays. Almonds should be taken in moderate quantity as too much would result in high intake of calories.


Almonds as a face pack does wonders to your skin. Soak 3-4 almonds in milk and mash it after 6-7 hours. Make a fine paste and apply to your face. Leave for 1 hour or so and then wash it off with cold water. Keep doing this for about 2 weeks. This would result in a glowing and radiating skin.


Pumpkin contains carotenoids, which are immensely beneficial for all skin types. The vitamins and nutrients present in pumpkin can give you a beautiful and bright skin. It is loaded with vitamin A, C, E and antioxidants, which protect skin from any free radical damages.


Pumpkin also has exfoliating properties, hence can be used as face packs for soft and bright skin. Mash few cubes of pumpkin into paste form. To this add 2 tablespoon of yogurt and 1 tablespoon of honey. Mix it well and apply the paste to your face. Leave it for half an hour and wash it off with warm water. Viola! You will see a brighter and smoother skin as the skin after the treatment!
