Oats Upma
Oats are rightly classified as Superfood. They are a tremendous source of Carbohydrates, proteins, and fiber. They Help in giving a feeling of fullness and aids in weight control. Oats Upma is a version of the regular rava upma, just little more healthier and a change in taste.
Ingredients
- 70 gm Oats
- 125 ml Water
- 1 small Onion (finely chopped)
- 8 Cashew Nuts (coarsely chopped)
- 1 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
- 1 Green Chilli (finely chopped)
- 20 grams Green Peas (boiled)
- 1 Carrot (cubed and boiled)
- ¼ teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
- ¼ teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 tablespoon Green Coriander Leaves (chopped)
- 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice
- 1 tablespoon Urad Dal
- 1 tablespoon Chana Dal
- 20 Curry Leaves
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions

Place a thick bottom pan on low heat.

Dry roast the oats for 5 minutes with constant stirring.

Remove and keep aside.

In the same pan add 2 tablespoons of oil.

Fry the cashew nuts to light golden brown and remove.

Add the chana dal and the urad dal and cook till fried and crisp.

Remove with a slotted spoon.

Now, add the mustard seeds, onion, curry leaves and the green chilli.

Cook until the onion turns soft.

Season with salt, red chilli powder, and the turmeric powder.

Put in the boiled peas and the carrot cubes. Mix well.

Add water and let it come to boil.

The quantity of water can be increased depending on the texture and mushiness preferred.

Put in the roasted oats and stir fry till they soak in the water.

Shut off the flame and sprinkle the lemon juice.

Garnish with the green coriander leaves and the fried cashew nuts.

Serve hot
