
Rasam Powder
Ingredients
- 1 cup Coriander Seeds
- ¼ cup Tur Dal
- ¼ cup Chana Dal
- 2 tablespoons Cumin Seeds
- 2 tablespoons Black Peppercorns
- 6 Whole Red Chillies (Adjust as per preference)
- 10 Curry Leaves (washed and pat dried)
- 1 teaspoon Oil
Instructions

Ensure that coriander seeds, tur dal, chana dal and cumin seeds are free of any debris, small stones etc.

Heat a non-stick pan over low heat.

All ingredients are to be dry roasted one by one.

Put in the coriander seeds and stir fry till light color change.

Remove and keep aside.

Next, put in the tur dal and cook till crisp.

Remove and keep aside.

Put in the chana dal and stir-fry until color change and crisp.

Remove it and keep aside.

Similarly, roast the black peppercorns for a few minutes till aroma emanates.

Remove and keep it aside.

Put in the cumin seeds and stir fry till aroma emanates and light color changes.

Remove and keep aside to cool.

Add the red chillies and fry with constant stirring so that they get roasted evenly.

Remove when they darken in color and look well-roasted.

Finally, add the curry leaves and fry them by adding the oil.

Remove them when they start drying up.

Keep all the ingredients to cool completely.

Take them in a mixer jar in batches so that the jar does not heat up and grind to a powder consistency.

Store in a tight-lidded jar to use as needed.
