Vaginal discharge is not always present and may only be present in small amounts. The thick, whitish-gray discharge is typically described as cottage-cheese-like, although it can vary from watery to thick.
Home Remedies for Vaginal Infections
Pour two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a cup of warm water and have it twice a day. You can also pour a few drops of vinegar in your hot bathtub. Mixing some vinegar in plain water and applying it on the affected area also helps.
Known for its antifungal properties, coconut oil kills the fungi that cause infection. Apply it on the affected area twice or thrice a day. This would stop the penetration of the fungi and eliminate the problem.
Crush some garlic cloves and apply them on the affected area. Garlic is known for its antifungal and antibacterial properties that help in soothing the problem. Consuming fresh garlic cloves daily also helps in treating this infection.
Apply plain yogurt on the affected area and let it stay for around half an hour. Alternatively, you can soak a tampon in yogurt and insert it in your vagina. Let it stay for two hours. Practice this therapy twice a day. Yogurt must also form a part of your diet. The friendly bacteria in yogurt help soothe this problem.
